The Cat Fly Mission
Cat Fly is an Asheville-based film festival that serves up and coming indie film artists of the Southeast Region, cultivating community and the passion of homegrown filmmaking.
Welcome to the Cat Fly Mission. We’re happy that you came to learn more about us, and we hope you’ll get involved very soon.
The Cat Fly Indie Film Festival started in April 2017 when a group of young female filmmakers envisioned a platform where up-and-coming film artists could showcase their hard work. Inspired by the artistic spirit of Appalachian NC, Cat Fly focuses on short indie films hailing from its Asheville home and welcomes participation from a variety of Southern-regional cities.
Cat Fly exists primarily to strengthen the indie film community of the South. We promote a pure creative environment, free from the influence of money, fame, popular demand or cutthroat politics. Filmmakers and spectators come to celebrate the seventh art in an atmosphere of encouragement and collaboration. We facilitate connection among filmmakers, leading to greater cooperation and better quality content. We believe in genuine artistry as motivation, and community as instrumentation.
We are a group of up-and-coming filmmakers ourselves, and we just want to give back to the many talented friends and collaborators who help and inspire us now and in the future. We invite you to come hang out with us at the next Cat Fly event!
